Built for the companies the big platforms price out
Over a decade building software for security operators — sold at a price a twenty-guard company can actually justify.
Why we exist
There is no shortage of security workforce software. What there was a shortage of, when we started, was software a company with twenty officers could afford without it eating the margin on a contract.
The enterprise platforms are genuinely good, and if you run five hundred guards across three countries you should probably buy one. But their pricing assumes a procurement department and a budget line. For the operator running eighteen officers across six sites — which is most of this industry — the maths simply does not work, and so they carry on with paper sheets, a WhatsApp group and a spreadsheet rota.
SMS-Patrol is what we built for those companies: the four things they actually need every day — proof of patrol, live tracking, rotas and accurate billing — done properly, at £60 a month.
What ten years actually buys you
"10+ years" on a website usually means very little, so here is what it means in our case — because in this industry, longevity is mostly a story about edge cases.
SMS-Patrol has been in continuous service since patrol wands, paper occurrence books and end-of-shift data downloads were still normal. We have been through the move to NFC, the arrival of smartphone patrols, and the shift to cloud reporting — and the product carries the scar tissue from all of it.
That shows up in the unglamorous places:
- Offline handling that actually works, because we learned the hard way what a basement car park does to a patrol record.
- Shift logic that copes with reality — nights crossing midnight, four-on-four-off, relief pools, split shifts and bank holiday uplifts.
- Reports written for the person receiving them, after a decade of customers forwarding them to facilities managers and insurers.
- An app built for a tired officer in the rain, not for a demo screen.
- A migration path that does not lose your history, because we have imported plenty of it from other systems.
None of that is exciting, and none of it demos well. It is simply the difference between software that survives contact with a real security operation and software that does not.
What we believe about pricing
Our price is on the website. That sounds like a small thing, but in this sector it is unusual, and it is deliberate. "Contact us for pricing" nearly always means the number depends on how much the salesperson thinks you will pay.
We charge per company, not per guard, because charging per guard punishes you for winning work. We do not charge a setup fee, because configuring your first site is our job, not a product. And we do not tie you into a year, because if the software is working you will not want to leave, and if it is not, holding you hostage helps nobody.
Where we are today
Four figures we can put our name to, rather than a customer count nobody can check.
Four things we hold to
Published pricing
The price is on the website and it is the same for everyone. No negotiation theatre, no renewal surprise.
Direct support
You speak to people who work on the product. No ticket queue purgatory, no offshore first line reading a script.
No lock-in
Rolling monthly, standard NFC tags, full data export. If you leave, you leave with everything.
Focus over breadth
We do patrols, tracking, rotas, incidents and billing. We deliberately do not do vetting, payroll or CRM.
Our typical customer
If several of these describe you, we have almost certainly built this for your situation.
- Between 5 and 100 security officers
- A mix of static sites, mobile patrols and the occasional event
- An owner or ops manager who is still hands-on daily
- Rotas built in a spreadsheet and shared over WhatsApp
- Clients who have started asking for evidence of patrols
- A month-end invoicing process that takes most of a day
- Quotes from enterprise vendors that made you close the tab

About us — common questions
A small UK team that has been building software for the security industry for over ten years. You will speak to people who work on the product, not to a call centre.
More than ten years. The platform has been in continuous service since patrol wands and paper sheets were still the norm, and has been through the shift to NFC, smartphone patrols and cloud reporting. It is not a start-up experiment — it is a mature product sold at a deliberately low price.

Yes. The platform is cloud-based and works anywhere, with multi-language and multi-currency support. Most of our customers are UK-based, so that is where our support hours are set.
